The following GENERAL information is to help employees with options and obligations under the Affordable Care Act.  Employees may be different and s/he should consult an authorized Navigator.  NO ONE at Crane is an authorized Navigator. On October 1, 2013 Crane was obligated under the Affordable Care Act to provide employees with basic information.  CLICK HERE * for that advisory.
As a Crane employee you are obligated to buy insurance or pay a penalty - The 2015 penalty (FEE) is significantly less than your premium under our plan. - You may shop the so-called Market Place for less expensive plans, but you will sacrifice some or all of Crane's contribution to your premium. - You may be exempt from the fee under certain conditions.
Crane does not assist employees shopping the Market Place. Existing Employees must apply for insurance during Open Enrollment - During December for Crane's plan - Between October 1 to April 1 for a Market Place Plan. You may have to pay a penalty for every family member who you do not insure. - If the premium cost exceeds 8% of your household income, you are exempt from this penalty. - Since Crane's Plan meets the minimum essential coverage, you and members of your family are not eligible for a subsidy.
Paying the FEE does not provide insurance You will pay this FEE when you file your Federal Income Tax in 2015. - If you don't have to file, then you don't have to pay the FEE. - The IRS may not levy against you for not paying the FEE. - Crane's payroll does not with hold this FEE.
